Kevin Gates Sentenced To 6 Months In Jail For Brutally Kicking Female Fan

After SEVERELY overreacting to an enthusiastic fan by kicking her in 2015, Kevin Gates has finally been given his sentence — 6 months in jail! The rapper was convicted of battery and was immediately taken into custody to serve his time. The judge ALSO ordered a one year probation after Kevin is released in 180 days.

Rapper Kevin Gates, 30, was sentenced to 180 days, aka six months, in a Polk County jail located in Florida after he was found guilty of kicking a female fan at a concert last year in August, according to TMZ. But on top of Kevin’s sentencing, which was actually three times what prosecutors requested, the judge also ordered a one year probation after he finishes his jail time.

And while that punishment MAY sound a tad harsh, after watching the brutal video of Kevin kicking 19-year-old Miranda Dixon, you may change your tune. The incident occurred on Aug. 29, 2015 at Rumors nightclub in Florida, and in her testimony, Miranda said that Kevin “Lifted his foot up and kicked” her.

Kevin’s defense was that Miranda was assaulting him before he kicked her. And although the artist was represented by Jose Baez, the same lawyer who famously defended Casey Anthony, the jurors still didn’t buy his story. Kevin testified that the teen reached out and touched his shorts on two occasions.
Miranda proceeded to tell the jury that Kevin kicked her so hard that she fell back and later blacked out. She also complained of pain in her upper stomach for a month after the incident. Kevin’s team argued that the rapper’s foot didn’t even make contact with Miranda at all, and that the woman was lying in order to gain damages in a separate civil suit against Kevin.
“Her credibility is to be questioned and you will not be able to, beyond and to the exclusion of every reasonable doubt in this case, believe her — and that is why you should enter a verdict of not guilty in this case,” Jose said. However, the jury, which was made up of six white women, decided to go ahead and convict Kevin after two hours of deliberation.
